Emily leverages more than 25 years of professional experience to help clients find solutions at the intersection of business, politics, and policy.
She has a successful track record of building and leading policy campaigns across multiple sectors, with a focus in the financial services, cybersecurity, consumer privacy, and fintech industries. Emily is proud to partner with FTP, and recently launched the Cyber Governance Alliance, a new nonprofit committed to advocating for sound corporate governance structures and liability protections to protect our nation’s Critical Infrastructure and the cyber professionals on the frontline.
Emily has adeptly guided and supported global CEOs through the legislative and regulatory processes. She has managed the Congressional hearing and witness process for both friendly and hostile investigations, negotiated major reforms to protect an entire industry from additional regulation during Dodd-Frank, thwarted or amended problematic legislation, and served on the steering committees for House and Senate Members on both sides of the aisle.
Emily began her career as a financial analyst in New York City and cut her teeth on Capitol Hill as Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schulz’s first Legislative Director, where she led the Congresswoman’s House Financial Services Committee and Whip work. She served as a Senior Political & Legislative Advisor to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and managed Congressional oversight of AIG’s collapse during the mortgage crisis. She went on to serve multiple roles at Ernst & Young, LLC – where she spent more than a decade as their in-house lobbyist, a Director of Public Policy, as well as the co-founder of EY’s Cyber Policy Engagement Program. Most recently, she has focused on emerging technology, cybersecurity and related governance matters, including during her roles at SAP at Buchannan.
Emily holds a Master in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and graduated summa cum laude from The Ohio State University. Emily is a PADI certified Master Diver, underwater photographer, and avid fan of travel. She also serves on the DC Council for Vital Voices, a global partnership committed to elevating women leaders to solve the world’s greatest challenges. Emily is the proud mom to three rescue dogs.
